The new normal for daily life looks a lot different than it did 6 months ago. Masks are now as essential for leaving the house as keys, hand washing is an hourly occurrence, and social distancing is a permanent fixture in our vocabulary. We’re all doing our part to help stop the spread of coronavirus and protect our friends and neighbors. Another essential when leaving the house these days is hand sanitizer—it’s necessary to kill germs while you’re out and about, whether it’s in a grocery store or picking up takeout when washing your hands isn’t an option.

To be effective at killing germs, it’s recommended to use a quarter-size dollop of hand sanitizer—which means you can cover your entire hand and all of your fingers. Unfortunately, the alcohol ratio in an effective hand sanitizer makes it quite drying and gives off a strong scent (the CDC recommends an ethanol alcohol formula to be greater than 60% to kill germs). But some hand sanitizer brands have added essential oils to help neutralize the smell and create a more pleasant experience (so you don’t walk around smelling like Purell). They may also contain soothing ingredients like aloe vera and vitamin E to help counteract the harsh alcohol and keep your hands a bit more moisturized.

So if you’re searching for a hand sanitizer that you won’t hate using, make sure to check the label for ingredients like essential oils, aloe vera, vitamin E, and marula oil. This will indicate a more pleasant-smelling formula that’s less drying. However, alcohol content will still be high so be sure to follow up with a good hand lotion to keep your skin from feeling too dehydrated. And whenever possible, opt for washing your hands with soap and hot water over hand sanitizer—it should be used only when real hand washing isn’t an option.

I don’t know about you guys but I have always wanted to know more about my ancestors and where they came from. My mom always told my siblings and I that our ancestors were from Italy, but I’m not sure how much of that is true! Haha. So, about a month ago, a company reached out to me called 23andMe which offers a Health + Ancestry Service that examines your DNA to offer insights about your ancestry, health, and traits. The name ‘23andMe’ comes from the fact that human DNA is organized into 23 pairs of chromosomes. With that being said, Icaro and I were so eager to try it out and learn more about our background and traits!

You all know Icaro and I really want to have babies in a couple of years right? We thought it would be a great idea to learn more about each other’s health and genetic traits. I remember in school we had to do a family tree and put together an ancestor report, but I always struggled with it because my parents had little to no information about where our families were really from. Moreover, people often ask Icaro if he’s Middle Eastern, so we were really excited to learn about his family’s origins.

Once we received our reports, we were really surprised! My mom was partially right about our ancestor coming from Italy, my DNA is made up of 71.3% European with the largest percentage being Southern European,  Iberian, Italian and Sardinian. Icaro’s DNA is 80.8% European where Iberian, Italian, and broadly Southern European are at the top of his ancestry the list. What I found super interesting too is that based on my genetics, I am more likely to drink slightly more caffeine than average. Check out our results below:

I am so happy to be home after a long, busy, but amazing Paris Fashion Week. You all know my travel schedule is crazy and when I am finally home for a few days, the thing my husband and I like to do the most is relax on our couch and catch up on TV series! We are not big fans of junk food, so we like to keep healthier yet still delicious snack options at home so we can munch on while binge-watching episodes, haha! Everyone knows that I have always loved working out, right?!  I been going to the gym since I was 17, but today with my crazy travel schedule and never being home, I lost my routine. I must confess thou that I have tried, because exercising makes me feel so good – mainly because I see results! When I travel I try to exercise at the hotel (at times I even do some exercises in the room haha) and when I am home, I like to go to the gym or workout at home, like I did today in the morning. Lets be real, there are some days we are so lazy to leave the house… for that reason, I bought some basic workout tools to help me do the exercises that I like the most without having to go to the gym.  combine that has days that a preguiçaaaa to leave the house …. and so I bought some basic equipment to help me to do the exercises that more taste without having to go to the gym.

What I like to workout the most is legs, buttocks and abdomen, and for that, I bought a few dumbbells (for squatting – legs), sand bags (for gluteus maximus) and a ball for abdominal muscles! Simple!

These two weeks that I have been home, I worked out at the gym and also here at home outside since it has been so nice out!

You all know how much I love working out, right?! It was a beautiful day and super warm – I love this time of the year, I have more motivation and everything makes me happy haha =)

Hi ladies,

Taking Care of the mind, the health and the body are essential rules that I practice in my life, I love me some exercise and eat well whenever I can. This combination not only makes me feel good physically, but also “internally”, I like everything working well with my body.  As I know that many of you, like me, live in the rush of day to day and are not always able to do everything that was planned, it is always good to give tips when it comes to staying healthy, right?!

In my case, the lack of routine gets in the way of the functionallity of my body. It is not only the good form that is impaired, the skin, the hair and the humor, also suffer. For this reason, I am eating these Livina fibers gummies, are you familiar?

They have soluble fibers, which are difficult to be found in food and help the intestine to function better. I chew two gummies per day (which are 70% of the necessity of soluble fibers of our body) and I am already feeling a big difference, it even helps me to satisfy the hunger and control the desire to eat sweets, which is great! (Haha) it comes in two flavors: tangerine and plum.

Today I want to share with you some important information about Chia and Goji berry.

The goji berry is considered a super food (name given to foods that has an incredible variety of health benefits, which go far beyond their nutritional value).  These foods usually contain a combination of essential fatty acids, antioxidants and essential amino acids.

The goji berry has a great quantity of antioxidant nutrients. For this reason, it is considered a super nutritional fruit. It contains 18 amino acids, high concentrations of vitamin A (beta-carotene), B1, B2, B6 and vitamin E. It is the fruit with the highest amount of vitamin C (has much more than the orange, for example), rich in iron, polysaccharides and phytochemicals.

BENEFITS OF GOJI BERRY

  • Rich in arginine and glutamine, which assist in the release of growth hormone (interesting for anyone who wants to gain lean mass);
  • Powerful stimulant, helps to increase the level of energy and ability to concentrate;

It is anti-inflammatory, preventing degenerative diseases and assists in regulating the immune system. For being so rich in fibers, it reduces the absorption of cholesterol, promotes glucose control, assists in satiety and also increases the volume of fecal bulk, regulating the functioning of the intestine, in addition to preventing the colorectal cancer. The Chia is also rich in proteins and minerals that are essential to the proper functioning of the body.

Chia, as any food rich in fiber, when hydrated, have the capacity to form gel in the stomach, helping maintain satiety, and consequently, aiding inweight loss diets.
