I don’t know about you guys but I have always wanted to know more about my ancestors and where they came from. My mom always told my siblings and I that our ancestors were from Italy, but I’m not sure how much of that is true! Haha. So, about a month ago, a company reached out to me called 23andMe which offers a Health + Ancestry Service that examines your DNA to offer insights about your ancestry, health, and traits. The name ‘23andMe’ comes from the fact that human DNA is organized into 23 pairs of chromosomes. With that being said, Icaro and I were so eager to try it out and learn more about our background and traits!

You all know Icaro and I really want to have babies in a couple of years right? We thought it would be a great idea to learn more about each other’s health and genetic traits. I remember in school we had to do a family tree and put together an ancestor report, but I always struggled with it because my parents had little to no information about where our families were really from. Moreover, people often ask Icaro if he’s Middle Eastern, so we were really excited to learn about his family’s origins.

Once we received our reports, we were really surprised! My mom was partially right about our ancestor coming from Italy, my DNA is made up of 71.3% European with the largest percentage being Southern European,  Iberian, Italian and Sardinian. Icaro’s DNA is 80.8% European where Iberian, Italian, and broadly Southern European are at the top of his ancestry the list. What I found super interesting too is that based on my genetics, I am more likely to drink slightly more caffeine than average. Check out our results below:

For those who cannot or do not remember drink it, buy a 1 liter or more bottle and take it wherever you go, or leave it next to your computer during work hours. This step will help you and certainly will make all the difference in your body and skin.

Hi ladies,

Taking Care of the mind, the health and the body are essential rules that I practice in my life, I love me some exercise and eat well whenever I can. This combination not only makes me feel good physically, but also “internally”, I like everything working well with my body.  As I know that many of you, like me, live in the rush of day to day and are not always able to do everything that was planned, it is always good to give tips when it comes to staying healthy, right?!

In my case, the lack of routine gets in the way of the functionallity of my body. It is not only the good form that is impaired, the skin, the hair and the humor, also suffer. For this reason, I am eating these Livina fibers gummies, are you familiar?

They have soluble fibers, which are difficult to be found in food and help the intestine to function better. I chew two gummies per day (which are 70% of the necessity of soluble fibers of our body) and I am already feeling a big difference, it even helps me to satisfy the hunger and control the desire to eat sweets, which is great! (Haha) it comes in two flavors: tangerine and plum.

Aerobic exercises work the heart, which is a muscle, in strengthening it. But the benefits of aerobic exercises are beyond the heart, the whole body benefits from it.

Many of the benefits are with the practice of regular aerobic exercises (3 to 6 days a week). Here are some of them:

  • Improves our mood and fights against depression, anxiety, and stress. The regular practice of aerobic exercises promotes the release of endorphin substances which act as natural painkillers in addition to combat against stress, depression, and anxiety.
  • Greatly improves self-esteem.
  • Improves the immune system.
  • Improves sleep quality
  • Strengthens the muscles of the heart; increasing cardio respiratory capacity. The heart pumps more blood with every beat allowing a reduction in heart rate at rest and during physical activity.
  •  Improves the level of good cholesterol; the HDL.

In addition, we can feel the effects of relaxation after aerobic exercises by the release of endorphins which is a neurotransmitter like acetylcholine and dopamine; they are all released in aerobic exercises. These hormones are called hormones of pleasure by the effects of relaxation that they produce.

Emagrecer, voltar a estudar, parar de fumar, mudar de emprego, comprar um carro…
Os planos no início do ano são muitos, mas para transformá-los em realidade é preciso mais do que sonhar.
Temos que planejar e estabelecer metas detalhadas!
Não adianta dizer que quer emagrecer. É necessário estabelecer quantos quilos pretende perder, em que mês vai começar a se exercitar, qual será a rotina de atividade física, qual será o cardápio diário e correr atrás dos seus objetivos. Toda meta requer foco e um bom planejamento, para saber ao certo quais ações devem ser aplicadas para que o objetivo não se perca na rotina durante o ano
Coloque prazos realistas, senão sua meta vira apenas um sonho ou você acaba desistindo e se sentindo frustrada por não ter conseguido alcançar tal meta. Eu sempre digo que devemos ter uma meta a curto e outra a longo prazo. A meta a curto prazo mantém você motivada até alcançar sua meta a longo prazo.

Pense sempre na conquista! Com a mudança dos seus hábitos, pense no quanto você vai ganhar com isso, ao invés de pensar no que vai perder. Sinta hoje a alegria da vitória que você terá quanto atingir sua meta.  Ao adotar hábitos saudáveis, não fique pensando negativamente que você terá que comer apenas saladas, que você não vai comer pizza e brigadeiros. Pense em tudo o que você irá ganhar: um corpo mais saudável, um físico mais bonito, mais disposição física, uma pele mais saudável, mais auto-estima e mais confiança.

Não coma emocionalmente! Nos momentos mais difíceis muitas pessoas acabam esquecendo seu estilo de vida saudável e acabam comendo errado ou deixando de comer como uma forma de atenuar a tristeza ou estresse. Tenha calma nessa hora, controle suas emoções para conseguir estar bem e mudar o que for necessário para melhorar a situação.

Tenha equilíbrio no seu novo estilo de vida, não precisa ser radical. Se você exagerou no final de semana, faça as mudanças necessárias e recupere-se rapidamente. Não é necessário fazer uma dieta radical, banindo um grupo alimentar. O importante não é a privação, e sim saber escolher o tipo de proteína, carboidrato e gordura que irão ajudar a chegar na sua meta. Procure auxílio de um nutricionista, assim você saberá exatamente quais alimentos são positivos para você!

Comemore cada bom resultado. Não julgue ou cobre demais de você mesma. Algumas vezes nós somos nossos maiores inimigos. Quando você alcançar sua meta, comemore! Se você emagreceu um quilo, mas gostaria de ter emagrecido mais, não desanime e comemore. Pense que o quilo perdido é um passo mais próximo do seu objetivo e mantenha o foco na sua meta de longo prazo.

O mais importante: SEJA POSITIVA! Atitudes e pensamentos positivos fazem toda a diferença para alcançar suas metas!
