Last year, due to the pandemic, we had to reframe the moments of self-care and well-being, thinking about the health of the body, mind and soul. With this, we decided to share some habits to include in the routine, which are ideal for moments of rest.

Every habit requires a few days of adaptation before it can be inserted once and for all into a routine. Studies show that we need 21 days practicing a certain action, before it becomes a habit.

1. Turn off screens at least 1 hour before going to sleep. The light from screens before bedtime is bad for our eyesight, but also for our brain, since exposure to blue light can affect your internal biological clock and alter your circadian rhythm.

2. Write about your feelings. Sometimes we can’t express what we’re feeling to another person, so having a little notebook, almost like a diary, can be a good alternative to pouring out your words. Before going to sleep, take a few minutes to reflect on how your day went and to relieve anxiety.

3. It may sound silly, but breathing deeply and slowly is a simple habit, but it helps with self-control when something seems off. The paused breathing communicates to our brain that it is time to relax. Notice: the feeling of well-being is immediate.

4. Take care of your body’s skin. Sometimes we focus only on skincare and forget that the body also needs some specific care, such as hydration and even exfoliation. Both are great allies for skin renewal and hydration. Exfoliation helps remove dead cells and improves the texture of the region, while the moisturizer restores the water lost by the skin, leaving it soft and silky.

Celebrated on July 29, lipstick day has countless curiosities and, at each moment in history, it was seen and represented in a different way. With that in mind, today we came to tell you a little about the history of this product!

  1. In ancient Egypt, men and women dyed their lips daily and that was synonymous of status!
  2. Cleopatra loved to dye her lips, but unlike the lipstick we know today, she used flowers, crushed beetles, and even semi-precious stones to get her lips colored..
  3. On the other hand, Greek women used a red root mixed with honey wax, which left the lips with a healthier and more moist appearance. Almost a balm, right?
  4. During the Middle Ages, lipstick was banned by the Catholic Church as it was seen as immoral and a sin.
  5. In the reign of Elizabeth I, lipstick was made with beeswax and vegetable dyes. The Queen was so fond of using the product that she simply ignored Church rules, and more: she launched a beauty trend from the use of lipstick. The skin should be as white as possible and the lips very red.
  6. It was only in 1880 that the first lipstick – more like the shape we know – was launched and marketed by Guerlain!
  7. Lipstick gained popularity after World War II, when makeup gained prominence in the movie industry and actresses such as Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor popularized lipstick. Soon, this product started to be used in different occasions.

Intense hair care is a trend and haircare promises to be as popular as skincare. So get your bathroom countertop ready, because today we’re going to teach you how to put together a complete hair care routine – also known as the Capillary Schedule.

The capillary schedule can be divided into three stages: hydration, nutrition and reconstruction. Each one acts in the hair treatment in a specific way and according to the hair’s needs. Check out how each step works and how to include them in your care routine, to leave your hair healthier, more beautiful and softer.

Start with the porosity test to understand what your strands need. For this, you will only need:

  • 1 glass of water;
  • 1 strand of your hair.

Place the strand inside the cup and see how it looks.

If the strand floats on the surface: you need hydration;

If the strand neither floats nor sinks: go for nutrition;

If the strand sinks: bet on reconstruction.

Hydration is responsible for returning water to the hair, flexibility against breakage and without that opaque aspect, leaving it softer, lighter, shinier, and without the dreaded split ends.

Reconstruction is ideal for replenishing hair protein for those who have had chemical processes on their hair and lost hair mass. Are your strands brittle and thin from the use of hot tools, coloring or bleaching? Then this step is especially suggested for you, as it leaves your hair fuller.

The capillary schedule is suitable for all hair types and what changes from one to the other is the sequence of types of masks used on the day of treatment. Oh, and it’s essential to take a break of at least 48 hours between one treatment and another, so it doesn’t overload the strands and the actives effectively penetrate into the hair.

We all know that the sun can have harmful effects on our skin, so we take the necessary precautions to protect it like wearing sunscreen and large hats when we’re outdoors. But it’s easy to forget about your hair during the carefree summer months. UV rays can make your hair brittle and prone to breakage, while also making appear frayed. It also lightens your hair color, which if you spend a lot of time and money perfecting the hue can be extremely frustrating. There are few things in life more relaxing than a long, hot bath. And during a highly uncertain time like this, focusing on self-care and rituals that make you feel calm are so important. For some people, creating a tranquil bath experience is something they do regularly and they have their routine down to a science. But for others that are new to the bath game, you may still be working to perfect your bath situation—you think you’ve drawn the perfect bath only to get in the tub and realize you forgot your book and there’s no music playing and your candles aren’t lit yet. Luckily it only takes a few steps to create a spa-like bath experience in your own bathroom, and below is an easy check list to utilize while getting ready for your next self-care night. From candles to bubbles to music, here’s everything you need for the ultimate relaxing bath.

  1. Candles
  2. Bubbles (or salts, or oils, depending on your preference)
  3. Relaxing music
  4. Good book
  1. Candles: There’s something about lighting a candle to two that instantly shifts your mood—from the dim lighting to the fragrance. Try placing a few of your favorite candles around your bathroom and bath tub while drawing your next bath. Make sure to stick to one scent (maybe use one fragrance candle and non-scented for the others) so you don’t overwhelm your bathroom with too many different smells, and light them before you sink into the tub (we’ve all made that mistake at least once).   2. Bubbles/ salts/ oils: Depending on the texture you prefer, you can add either bubbles, bath salts, or essential oils to your water (or a combination of the three!). For the most relaxing effect, choose one of these with aromatherapy benefits—the most calming scents are lavender, chamomile, vetiver, and neroli. Bath salts like epsom are great for alleviating muscle soreness, while oils help moisturize dry skin, and bubbles are just fun. If you have sensitive skin you may want to avoid bubbles, however, as most strip away the skin’s natural oils and can cause irritation.

3. Relaxing music: Turn on something that helps put you in a calm mindset, whether that’s classical music, meditative sounds, or your favorite playlist. Podcasts are also a great way to open your mind while laying in the tub.

4. A good book: Getting lost in your favorite book will always take you out of your own mind and body for a bit, so why not do so while laying in a hot bath surrounded by your favorite things?
