When bleaching the hair, the natural color pigment is removed, causing nutrients, lipids, and other components to be removed, leaving the strands sensitive, fragile, and dry. For this reason, it is important to reinforce at home treatments and at the salon.

To take care of bleached hair it is essential to follow a hair care schedule for hydration, nutrition, and reconstruction of the strands. These treatments avoid the yellowish blonde and restore the life of the hair strands. 

Hair that is bleached become very damaged, since this chemical acts directly on the hair fiber and opens the hair cuticles, removing all the pigment inside. With the cuticles open, nutrients, lipids, and the mass of the hair fiber end up also going away.

Avoid excessive use of heat tools, such as diffuser, flat iron, and hair dryer, because they end up making the hair shaft (which is already fragile) even more dry, opaque, and brittle.

Hot water can also damage the hair, leaving it rough and porous, due to the swelling of the cuticle due to heat. The leave-in is an ally of bleached hair, since this product enhances the treatment and recovery of the strands, giving shine and increasing the resistance of the strands to daily damage.

Intense hair care is a trend and haircare promises to be as popular as skincare. So get your bathroom countertop ready, because today we’re going to teach you how to put together a complete hair care routine – also known as the Capillary Schedule.

The capillary schedule can be divided into three stages: hydration, nutrition and reconstruction. Each one acts in the hair treatment in a specific way and according to the hair’s needs. Check out how each step works and how to include them in your care routine, to leave your hair healthier, more beautiful and softer.

Start with the porosity test to understand what your strands need. For this, you will only need:

  • 1 glass of water;
  • 1 strand of your hair.

Place the strand inside the cup and see how it looks.

If the strand floats on the surface: you need hydration;

If the strand neither floats nor sinks: go for nutrition;

If the strand sinks: bet on reconstruction.

Hydration is responsible for returning water to the hair, flexibility against breakage and without that opaque aspect, leaving it softer, lighter, shinier, and without the dreaded split ends.

Nutrition is essential to protect hair against daily external aggressions, which end up causing dryness, frizz, and weakening of the hair fiber. Thus, it is responsible for replenishing the oils that protect the hair, making the cuticles aligned and closed.

Reconstruction is ideal for replenishing hair protein for those who have had chemical processes on their hair and lost hair mass. Are your strands brittle and thin from the use of hot tools, coloring or bleaching? Then this step is especially suggested for you, as it leaves your hair fuller.

The capillary schedule is suitable for all hair types and what changes from one to the other is the sequence of types of masks used on the day of treatment. Oh, and it’s essential to take a break of at least 48 hours between one treatment and another, so it doesn’t overload the strands and the actives effectively penetrate into the hair.

We all know that the sun can have harmful effects on our skin, so we take the necessary precautions to protect it like wearing sunscreen and large hats when we’re outdoors. But it’s easy to forget about your hair during the carefree summer months. UV rays can make your hair brittle and prone to breakage, while also making appear frayed. It also lightens your hair color, which if you spend a lot of time and money perfecting the hue can be extremely frustrating. And it’s not just your hair that needs consideration—the skin underneath your hair is also very vulnerable to sunburn and damage from long-term exposure. Spots of skin cancer are very common along the scalp and hairline, especially if you part your hair in the same spot everyday as that particular area sees a lot of sunlight.

At this point in quarantine we’re all craving a trip to the hair salon for something—whether it’s a hair cut, color, or treatment. Since taking scissors or hair dye into our own hands at home is probably not the best idea, turning to hair masks and DIY treatments is our safest option. Of course there are many amazing brands that offer luxurious hair masks and oils, but you can actually make effective masks to address a variety of different hair concerns right in your kitchen using items from your refrigerator and pantry. Even those new to the DIY scene can blend two or three of these ingredients in a bowl, so if you usually shy away from creating your own products this is one area not to be afraid of as it’s quite simple.

Whether you’re looking to treat dried out and broken strands, a flakey/itchy scalp, dull color, or grease, there’s a DIY combination for you—All you’ll need are a few ingredients from your kitchen:

  1. Coconut oil
  2. Avocado
  3. Eggs
  4. Apple Cider Vinegar
  5. Honey
  6. Lemon
  7. Green Tea

Below is a breakdown of the various ways you can combine these ingredients to target specific hair issues—from dullness to dryness to damage.

How to Make Effective DIY Hair Masks Camila Coelho

For Dry Hair:

Honey (1 teaspoon) + Egg (1) + Apple Cider Vinegar (1 tablespoon)— Combine these ingredients in a bowl, apply to your hair, and leave on for 30 minutes. This masks is ultra-hydrating that nourishes hair without weighing it down or messing up your color.

 

For Dull Hair:

Honey + Apple Cider Vinegar + Coconut Oil—Combine equal parts of each ingredient (depending on your hair length, that could be 1 teaspoon, 1 tablespoon, or more), apply to your hair when it’s still damp, and let the mask soak in for 20 minutes. Finally, shampoo the mask out of your hair and see how glossy your hair looks.

 

For Flaky/Irritated Scalp:

Green Tea (1 cup) + Apple Cider Vinegar (1 tablespoon)—Mix these two in a bowl or glass and massage into your scalp. Let it sit on your hair for at least five minutes and then rinse out in the shower. The green tea’s antioxidant properties will soothe your scalp while the ACV will help remove excess oil. If your scalp is feeling particularly flaky, combine a small amount of coconut oil with sugar first for a scalp scrub that will remove excess flakes, then finish off with the green tea rinse.

 

For Grease:

Egg White (1 egg) + Lemon juice (half)—Combine one egg white with the juice from half a lemon to create a mask that will remove excess oil and grease from your roots and scalp. Leave the mask on for 30 minutes (or longer!) and then rinse with warm water. The protein enzymes in the egg white zap excess oil instantly.

 

For Damaged Hair:

Avocado (half) + Egg (1) + Coconut Oil or Olive Oil (1 tablespoon)—Combine these three in a bowl, apply to wet hair, and wrap hair up into a bun. Blow dry for 10 minutes to help activate the ingredients, then let it sit for an additional 20, and finish off by washing it out in the shower. The omega-3 fatty acids provide strength and shine, while the avocado helps moisturize the scalp.

No matter what we do, it always happens that we wake up already having a bad hair day and many times it happens precisely in the midst of the weeks of important commitments or sometimes there is an unexpected invitation to an unforgettable party where we do not have time to stop by a salon. These types of dates always happens to me, after all, I don’t have a set routine due to my job so I don’t always have the time to do a super elaborate hairstyle for events and such.

For this reason, I created this post full of inspirations and super easy hairdo tips that you can recreate at home and leave the house in a matter of minutes. Check it out:

The high or low ponytail is always my first choice. I love and think the two add a more glam touch to the look. The low one that I wear in this style, I find it chic and stylish, and the high ponytail I go for when I want to put together a more strong and powerful look.  For a more professional look: do not forget to use a strand of hair to cover the elastic.

A bun is also a great choice for days when you are in a rush. My tip is to leave it tightly put together and be careful not to let the bobby pins and elastic showing. If you prefer, you can also bet on a more laid back look leaving some loose strands.

If you’re the type that prefers to wear your hair loose, go for a look using a curling iron and secure only the sides to make the look more charming and different. It is worth risking creating a braid or using clips creatively like this blue triangle. A good tip is to apply a bit of texturizing powder to the root to give volume.

Como vocês já devem saber uma das estações que eu mais gosto é o Verão, amo curtir cada minuto da melhor forma, como por exemplo passeando no parque, indo na piscina ou a praia, tomando um bronze, enfim, quando o Verão chega até o meu humor muda. Haha! Quem mais também é assim?

Porém o clima mais quente e intenso requer alguns cuidados maiores, principalmente com os cabelos e a pele e no post de hoje vim dar algumas dicas que funcionam muito comigo e ajudam a me manter hidratada e sem deixar de estar bronzeada! Olhem só:

Começando pelas madeixas que sempre são as primeiras a sofrer durante o Verão. Os nossos fios ficam mais sensibilizados e sofrem com a ação agressiva dos fatores externos como sol, sal e cloro, por isso nessa época eu procuro apostar em máscaras hidratantes que possuem proteção contra os raios UVA e UVB e produtos específicos para blindar os fios da água do mar e do cloro da piscina. Outra regra é reforçar a hidratação com as máscaras hidratantes, independente da estação.

Outro produto que não sai da minha nécessaire no Verão é o leave-in com proteção térmica para blindar os fios das altas temperaturas. Quando quero potencializar o resultado umedeço os fios com água termal antes de aplicar o produto. O resultado é incrível!

A dica final, e confesso que a mais difícil pra mim, é diminuir o uso de secadores, chapinhas e babyliss no Verão, afinal as altas temperaturas já danificam, naturalmente, os fios. Uma dica é se jogar nas texturas dos fios e apostar sem medo no messy hair. Fica lindo e combina muito com a estação.

Assim como os cabelos a nossa pele sofre muito também e por isso os cuidados devem ser redobrados, porque o sol e a desidratação podem trazer muitos problemas como queimaduras, envelhecimento precoce, aumentando até mesmo o risco de câncer. Por isso uma das dicas principais é passar muito hidratante, tanto no corpo como no rosto, lembrando sempre de usar produtos específicos para cada área.

O protetor solar também é uso obrigatório o ano inteiro e durante o Verão deve ser passado em toda a área que ficar exposta ao sol. Pra quem estiver curtindo a praia ou piscina é importante aplica-lo cerca de 20 a 30 minutos antes da exposição solar e fazer a renovação a cada 3 horas. Quem deseja ficar bronzeada sem prejudicar a pele pode optar por usar um protetor solar mais fraco, com FPS 4 ou 8, por exemplo, porque ele filtra os raios nocivos do sol e deixam a pele mais bonita, com um tom dourado.

Depois de um dia de praia, não se esqueça de tomar um banho de água doce, de preferência fria, para retirar o sal e areia que ajudam a ressecar a pele. A água fria além de hidratar a pele também deixa o cabelo com um aspecto incrível. Por fim, não tiro da nécessaire minha água termal para borrifar no rosto ao longo do dia e também uma garrafa de água, beber muito líquido nessa estação é fundamental para se manter hidratada.

Having hydrated, shiny and silky hair is a wish that most women have, but we don’t always have time to give it the attention that our strands deserve, right?! Therefore some small daily care are important to achieve that mermaid hair that we love and want, especially during physical exercises.

Yes! The sweat damages the strands more than you think and the hair suffers the external aggression even on a simple run.  The great villain is the salt, which is produced in excess when we are under great physical effort and, when it comes into contact with the hair, resulting in dry, brittle, fragile and opaque strands – that is why after any activity it is normal for it to be super frizzy.  The bad news is that it is useless to just wash the strands after exercise, care must be taken well before beginning the activity. Therefore, in today’s post, I separated some tips that will help you to keep your body in shape without leaving the strands dry.

1- Starting with the step which must be done even during the lazy days at home: protect the strands. The leave-ins are full of benefits because they moisturize, nourish, prevent frizz and also remove the split ends. Apply it to the entire length so that the salt does not come in contact with the hair. If you do outdoor exercises, protect the strands with UV protection! There are many leave-ins that already have protection against external agents in the formula.

2- Avoid putting up the hair very tight in a pony tail or bun during the workout, they can damage the hair, so always do a braid and secure it with pins without metal.

3- In spite of not being “good” for the hair to wash it daily, this is a rule that does not apply if you exercise every day, so it is very important to remove the salt from the hair as fast as possible. The more it comes in contact with the strands, the more they will be dry and brittle.

4- Take advantage of the time you are caring for the body to take care of the strands too and do a hydration with your preferred oil and continue throughout the length of the hair before beginning the exercise. I love coconut oil, it moisturizes sooo much!

5- Lastly, there is no point in all these tips if you do not hydrate your hair on a weekly basis, you can do it at home! Take 1 day of your week and choose your favorite hair mask , after all, they are going to be more sensitive than the strands of those who do not exercise. That is why hydration is even more important in these cases.
