The Return of the Prada Nylon Bag

Once upon a time in the late ’90s and into the early ’00s, Prada’s nylon handbag styles were as cool as you could get—Virtually every celebrity and taste maker of that era was carrying one. Then, as most trends do, Prada’s nylon bag declined in popularity and eventually they were no more. But fast-forward to 2020 and Prada has reignited it’s iconic nylon style with a range of new handbags that are suddenly everywhere again. One look at fashion week street style photos is proof—Prada’s nylon bags are back! Prada’s recently re-issued nylon bags from the early 2000s are officially the It-bags once again, with trendsetters from around the globe carrying them in every color they’re available in.

The re-issued style has already been spotted on the likes of Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, and Kaia Gerber—and the list keeps growing. The bags have a slightly updated silhouette but kept Prada’s signature label and nylon fabric for the perfect infusion of nostalgia. These small bags are big enough to fit your phone and essentials while still remaining compact. The black and nude versions are perfect for those with more minimalist style, and it’s also available in pink for maximalists and fans of color. The version with the thin chain strap feels like the perfect combination of nostalgia and contemporary.

Prada’s nylon bags are one of those styles that truly goes with everything—from polished evening dresses to relaxed daytime looks to weekend outfits of sweatshirts and jeans. It adds a playful touch to whatever you choose to wear it with, given it’s throwback nature and nylon fabrication. Many of their color ways have already sold out, but if you act fast you can still get your hands on black, brown, red, pink and more straight from Prada’s website. Now that this style is back in the trend cycle, it’s one we don’t see disappearing anytime soon.

Spring Beauty Trend: Rainbow Nails

Typically when you think about spring nail trends, you think florals, pastels, and various shades of pink. This year one of spring’s biggest nail trends is going to take the typical pastel manicure to a whole new level by combining all pastels together into a beautiful rainbow design. We’re seeing various rainbow nail designs pop up all over Instagram, meaning this is a trend that’s about to blow up. Rainbow nails feel like a fresh, fun departure from the usual single-tone nail designs of past spring seasons—and they’ll pair well with virtually any color of clothing you choose to wear. They may seem like they’re hard to match an outfit to, but it’s actually quite the opposite.

Rainbow nail designs of all kinds are starting to trend—from subtle ombrés to rainbow French tips to full color-blocked nails. An ombré French tip like the below feels like a cool, directional way to get in on the rainbow nail trend, while the classic French tip alternating rainbow colors makes for a more subtle way to test it out. If French tips aren’t your thing, try solid-colored nails alternating the colors of the rainbow for each finger for a fun design you could even do on yourself at home. Or if you’re planning to go to a professional artist, a rainbow watercolor design would make beautiful nail art.

Leather is one of those fabrics that will always be in style. As soon as the weather permits each year, leather skirts, pants, and jackets come out of storage to be welcomed back into heavy rotation in your wardrobe. The subtle shine in the leather adds beautiful texture to anything it’s paired with—while also adding a certain cool-factor as well. Typically black leather reigns supreme, but this season colored leather has taken the fashion world by storm and knocked black leather off the top spot. Shades of brown, red, purple, orange—you name it—have been the most coveted leather pieces across the board, and the trend shows no signs of slowing down. Since leather is one of those fabrics that can be worn well into spring, you can bet this trend will be going strong over the next few months.

One of the reasons leather is so popular is because it truly goes with everything, and colored leather is no different. Whether paired with jeans and a t-shirt or a sleek sweater and heels, this rich texture instantly elevates your look and makes it feel modern. It’s also an easy way to add a pop of color to your outfit, especially if you like keeping most of your look neutral colors. Colored leather looks ultra chic paired with muted colors like black and beige, or with similar colors for a cool monochrome look. Whatever you choose to pair it with, it provides an overall polished vibe.

Budapest-based vegan leather brand Nanushka has been one of the labels leading the charge on the colored leather trend, as you’re barely able to scroll through Instagram without spotting one of their rich-looking pieces. Luxury brands like Bottega Veneta and Joseph have also been championing this fabric recently, showing chocolatey-brown and deep red styles. If you’re looking for a deep burgundy dress or sage green leather shorts, contemporary brands like Equipment and Ganni have some seriously chic options for you. And then of course affordable retailers like H&M and Pixie Market have already debuted expensive-looking colored leather pieces at reasonable price points that are an easy, attainable way to try the trend.

Accessory Spotlight: Oversize Chains

Typically when you think about spring, you think florals, pastels, and white lace. You also probably picture delicate jewelry and straw bags as the accessories of choice. But this spring the vibe is leaning much edgier, with one of the major trends bubbling up being of the metal variety: Oversize chains. Blame it on Bottega Veneta, but chunky chain accents are popping up on everything from shoes to bags to jewelry and belts. Handbags have always had chain straps and accents so this may sound like nothing new, but these chains have been supersized—we’re talking XXL chains. Much like Bottega Veneta, designers like Tom Ford, Dior, and Givenchy are all championing this heavy metal trend, placing it on accessories across the board. If the most influential designers on the planet are any indication, this trend is about to blow up.

This trend may seem intimidating, but it’s actually one of the easiest to incorporate into your current wardrobe. Whether paired with a t-shirt or formal dress, an oversize chain accent instantly toughens up a look. It also goes with just about everything—even feminine pieces like sundresses feel edgy and current with the addition of a thick chain necklace or belt. If you decide to invest in a chunky gold necklace, you can pair it with a t-shirt and jeans for a chic daytime look, then with a slinky slip dress for evening—talk about a truly versatile piece.

Obviously luxury designers are already on board with this trend, with Bottega Veneta leading the pack with their enviable Chain Pouch Leather Clutch and matching chain necklace. Then designers like Oscar de le Renta and Loren Stewart are offering equally beautiful chunky chain necklaces that make everything you pair them with feel elevated. If you’re looking for a more contemporary option, Laura Lombardi and Kenneth Jay Lane create gorgeous pieces at extremely reasonable price points for such high quality. Then of course if you want to go the high-street route, retailers like Mango and Zara have expensive-looking pieces for around $30. However you choose to get in on the oversize chain trend, one thing’s for sure—this one is sticking around well through summer.

Meet the Camila Coelho Collection resort capsule for February, full of silky green fabrics, subtle floral prints, and bright blue suiting. Designed with warm weather and vacations in mind, the resort collection is made up of pieces that will take you from day to night wherever you choose to wear them. From ruched mini dresses to silk trousers, the February collection has all of your vacation needs covered—from the beach to dinner to dancing.

The sage green satin group features two mini dresses and an asymmetrical cropped top. The fabric is a thick satin that makes you feel held in but comfortable at the same time, and it’s shiny finish reflects the light beautifully. The Lorena Mini Dress has a corset-style top with boning in the bust, ruching down the sides, and an asymmetrical hemlines that shows off your legs. The Viviane Mini Dress also features a tight silhouette with ruching down the sides but has long sleeves and a mock turtleneck. Finally, the Emanuelle Crop Top features an asymmetrical neckline, voluminous long sleeves, and a cropped silhouette.

Spring Trend: Asymmetrical Tops

As far as tops go, we’ve seen sleeves dominating the trend cycle for quite some time now. From off-the-shoulder to puff sleeves to statement sleeves, the area of interest on popular top styles has been the sleeve area for years. This year, though, it’s the neckline that’s finally getting some attention with the introduction of spring’s asymmetrical top trend. One-shoulder tops of all kinds were seen all over the spring 2020 runways, with designers like Zimmermann championing the trend. Whether its a one shoulder tank or has a puffy sleeve attached, asymmetrical tops are the perfect way to show off a bit of skin in an interesting way.

Lucky for us, one-shoulder tops are beyond easy to style. If it’s a cropped silhouette, try pairing it with high-waisted trousers or jeans on the loos side to balance out the proportions. If it’s a longer style or bodysuit, high-waisted shorts or a skirt puts a feminine spin on the outfit. Just remember to be mindful of proportions—if the top is loose with a big, billowy sleeve opt for something tighter on the bottom. And if the one-shoulder style is tight and fitted, pair it with something loose-fitting or wide-leg. Balance is key to highlighting your waist and ensuring your outfit is flattering.

Designers across the board have different versions of asymmetrical and one-shoulder tops as part of their spring collections. Labels like Johanna Ortiz, Oscar de le Renta, and Roland Mouret have tops with voluminous draping and interesting tie details, while brands like Ganni and Rick Owens are showing more fitted styles with unique prints and fabrics. Affordable retailers like Free People and H&M also have chic one-shoulder bodysuits that are an interesting swap to your typical v-neck or square-neck style. Spring 2020 Trend to Watch: Corsets

One of the major trends we saw coming down all of the spring 2020 runways was lingerie-inspired pieces. Designers like Helmut Lang, Mugler, Loewe, and Dion Lee all included pieces like garters, lace, and nightgown-like slips in their spring collections. One of the most exciting lingerie-inspired styles is the modern corset, and it’s set to be a major trend this spring. Both traditional corset and corset-inspired pieces will be everywhere in a few months and we’ve already started to see it popping up from various brands and on trend-setting fashion people.

While traditional corset tops will be a key trend, new modern takes on corsets are going to feature some of their key details like boning, structured seams, or hook-and-eye closures up the front. The key to making these corset-inspired pieces feel current is to pair them with something contemporary. High-waisted jeans that have a vintage feel would make a great daytime pairing, or a silk slip skirt and heels for an evening out. You could also try throwing a casual sweater over it for daytime to dress the corset top down a bit.

Introducing the Camila Coelho Collection January styles, featuring fun night-out looks, luxe leather, pretty polka-dots pieces, white linen, and sexy sweaters. With the new year in full swing, it’s time for a wardrobe refresh—meaning out with the holiday sparkle and in with the fresh fabrics and calming neutral colors.

Whether it’s for a warm vacation or simply to get a jumpstart on your spring wardrobe, the peach polka-dot group is the perfect way to transition out of winter. Each piece is adorned with bold metallic gold polka-dots for a fun, playful vibe. The Milena Mini Dress features a one-shoulder silhouette with a mock collar, form-fitting bodice, and asymmetrical hemline. The Kaylee Mini Skirt is a high-waisted, body hugging silhouette that features a flirty ruffle down the front. Finally, the Sarita Mini Dress features a looser bodice, cinched waist, and billowy sleeves with adjustable ties at the wrists.

One of the prettiest party pieces CCC has ever created is the pearl-adorned cropped blazer jacket and high-waisted skirt. Featuring dozens of mini pearls, the Sofiya Jacket has a cropped silhouette, fitted sleeves, and open front that can be worn open with a little top underneath or hooked closed and worn as a top itself. The Amora Mini Skirt features a high-waist, fitted body, and pearl adornment that has an almost ombre effect.

Since the end of sweater weather is approaching, the knit pieces in CCC’s January collection have a sexier twist than previous months. The Seala Sweater is made of a lighter sweater material and features a mock turtleneck collar, fitted bodice, and cutout in the back. The matching Dahlia Skirt is a high-waisted midi that pairs perfectly back to the Seala Sweater but also looks just as chic with a t-shirt or chunky sweater.

One of the party looks in January’s collection is the black multi-colored pearl group, which features 3 styles all worthy of a night out. The Suza Crop Top features a corset bodice and off-the-shoulder detailing. The Chelsea Mini Dress has a deep V-neckline, puffy tulle sleeves, and fitted silhouette with ruched detailing, making it the ultimate winter party dress.

The white resort group features 4 beautiful styles, all embellished with a floral pattern that adds an interesting texture to the fabric. The Francesca Mini Dress features long sleeves with puffy detailing around the wrists and a mock turtleneck, while the Carina Mini Dress has a sleeveless design with a sweet tie detail at the chest. How to Wear the Color-Blocking Trend

Color-blocking is one of those trends that cycles in and out of fashion frequently, but this spring it’s coming back in full force. Color-blocking is typically thought of as pairing together two colors that sit across from each other on the color wheel (i.e. green with red or blue with orange) but spring 2020 will be less about exact color pairings and more about putting two or more bold colors together to create an interesting combination. Think of it as pairing multiple unexpected hues together to create a look that stands out.

Participating in this trend is surprisingly easy, all you need is a few solid colored pieces. Try pairing two or more bright colored items together, whether it be pinks and reds, blues and greens, yellows and browns—truly any color combination works! You just have to start trying things on together and you’ll be surprised how many cool outfits you end up with using pieces that you probably never thought to wear at the same time before. If you’re just starting out and want to take it slow you can always pair two colors that are right next to each other on the color wheel, as they’re basically guaranteed to look good together.

Retailers of all price points are just starting to get their spring collections in, so now is the perfect time to add some new color to your wardrobe. If you’re looking to make an investment brands like Versace, Tom Ford, and Altuzarra have some seriously cool color for spring, or high contemporary brands like Georgia Alice, Nina Ricci, and Simon Miller are offering beautiful shades right now. As always, you can also find fun colors at affordable price points at high-street retailers like Zara, Mango and Topshop. Whatever color combination you decide to go with, this is a trend you can start wearing now and wear all the way through summer. After all, bold colors were made for warm weather.

Trend to Try: Two-Tone Designs

There are a lot of spring 2020 trends to be excited about, from bra tops to suiting to major statement sleeves. But there’s one trend that was all over the runways and is already all over the streets: Two-tone designs. Patterns of two color tones blocked together geometrically is adorning everything from jeans to swimsuits, and this trend is only going to get bigger next season.

If the two-tone trend intimidates you, try pairing it with a solid-colored piece of the same color family. For example, say your two-tone piece is a pair of black and white pants—you would add a solid black sweater on top and black boots and your outfit would be set. If you want to get more adventurous, you can add a piece with a small pattern or bold-color on top.
