Did you know that most tourists who go to the state of Amazonas are not Brazilians? If you don’t know this beautiful region of Brazil yet, it’s time to turn the game around. Manaus is the starting point for many incredible adventures. A city that needs to get on your itinerary. And the good news is that there’s something new in the capital city of Manauara. The boutique hotel Juma Opera has just opened its doors in Manaus. Do you know where? In the historic center, right in front of the iconic Amazonas Theater, built during the Rubber Cycle. A boutique hotel that is not only charming, but also very well located.

Now you have good reasons to put Manaus on your wish list. The Juma Opera occupies a set of historic mansions listed by IPHAN – National Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage. In one of these houses, the American consulate functioned for a while, which received important personalities such as Theodore Roosevelt and Marshal Rondon. The restoration was careful and the result could not be different, it was beautiful! There are 41 spacious and bright accommodations, many with views of the Amazonas Theater. The decor includes pieces of local handicrafts and the rooftop has a beautiful pool facing the theater and overlooking the Rio Negro.

Manaus deserves a visit of two or three days before you head for the forest. Visit the Adolpho Municipal Market in Lisbon, the Nossa Senhora da Conceição Mother Church, the Municipal Clock, the Seringal Museum, the Amazon Museum and the Povos da Amazônia Cultural Center. From the Port of Ceasa take a boat to see the Meeting of the Waters (Encontro das Águas), where the Negro and Solimões rivers flow side by side without mixing due to the difference in viscosity of their waters. With luck, the dolphins will follow the boat’s path. Take a helicopter or hydroplane over the Anavilhanas, an archipelago formed by 400 river islands, 100 kilometers from Manaus.

Visit Manaus at any time of the year. It is always hot and humid. April to September is the dry season, and October to March is the rainiest. It is worth returning at different times to see how the landscape changes depending on the water level.

Want tips of good restaurants to eat river fish? Amazônico, Banzeiro, and of course, at the Juma Opera restaurant, which is run by chef Sofia Bendelak.

For the experience to be complete I suggest you stay 2 or 3 days at Juma Opera in Manaus and another 3 or 4 days at Juma Amazon Lodge in the middle of the forest. Another day I will tell you all about it.

Hello, everyone! Everything good with you guys? Today I’m going to give a powerful #clautip (Claudia tip, hahaha), in the northeast of Brazil, more precisely in Muro Alto, in the delightful state of Pernambuco. That’s where Nannai Resort & Spa is located. If you are not familiar with it yet, you can put it on your wish list because the hotel is a dream!

In addition to being privileged in terms of location, as it is located in one of the most beautiful coast regions in Brazil, Nannai recently won the “Condé Nast Awards for Excellence 2020” in the category of best hotels with spa in Latin America. Isn’t that great? It’s a perfect combination for those who want a vcation in a blue paradise, full of natural pools protected by reefs and entitled to good treatments to close the vacation in harmony.

Since opening its doors on the quiet beach of Muro Alto, 10 kilometers from trendy Porto de Galinhas, Nannai has become one of the darlings of Brazil for its innovative concept. The beachfront bungalows are super charming and are surrounded by pools that connect most of the hotel, in an extensive green area full of coconut trees. Of course, coconut water is not lacking. Upon arrival, guests are greeted with a cold coconut. Those details make all the difference.

The hotel’s architecture is super nice and all facilities are made of wood. You can choose between staying in an apartment, suite or bungalow. I suggest choosing a bungalow or suite. The closer to the sea … the better! The details are enchanting. Canopy beds decorated with flowers daily and always pampered in the room. Concern for the environment and respect for regional culture can be easily noticed. The cuisine is delicious. Starting with breakfast with freshly made tapioca and fresh fruit juices from the region. Lunch is served on a balcony with an incredible view of the sea and dinner is delicious.

The L’Occitane spa is one of the highest points of the Nannai and has earned the coveted Condé Nast 2020 award exactly in the category of best hotels with spa in Latin America.

And for those who are adventurous and like to explore the region, there will be plenty to do. Porto de Galinhas is 9 km, Praia dos Carneiros less than 60 and Maragogi 95 km. These are just a few of the nearby beaches. Not to mention Recife and Olinda, which are close by.

So? I guarantee it made you want to fly there.

Hello, everyone! I want to know who else besides me is also in love with Italy? What an incredible country, isn’t it? It has everything to please. Layers of history everywhere, wonderful wines, one of the most delicious cuisines in the world, friendly people and cute cities. Have you heard of Portovenere?

This nice village of narrow streets and colorful houses is located in Liguria, on the Italian Riviera and has one of the best lodging options for those who want to explore the Cinque Terre region: the Grand Hotel Portovenere.

The hotel occupies a historical building from the 16th century, which was a Franciscan convent until 1970. In 2014 it was completely renovated to become a hotel and to receive guests in its 47 accommodations. It is worth staying a few days at the Grand Hotel Portovenere to enjoy the medieval center, the port, visit the Doria Castle, the churches of St. Peter and St. Lawrence, in addition to the unmissable Cinque Terre, a group of five seaside villages full of personality: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso al Mare.

Portovenere along with Fezzano and Le Grazie make up the province of Le Spezia and are UNESCO World Heritage Sites as well as the neighboring Cinque Terre. It is certainly one of the most charming places in northern Italy.

Take the opportunity to combine the trip with other corners of the country such as bucolic Tuscany, for example, or perhaps with super fashion Milan.

This region is nice to visit from March to November.

O post ALL THE CHARM AND COLORS OF PORTOVENERE, IN ITALY apareceu primeiro em Camila Coelho.

Hello, everyone! That Madrid is a delight, vibrant and super elegant city is nothing new. The good news is that the Four Seasons Hotel Madrid will open its doors soon, in a wonderful historic building, after undergoing a gigantic seven-year remodeling. Imagine how careful! I was there at the end of last year, and hoped it was ready, but it was in the finishing touches. Finally, May 15th will reopen in style in an iconic spot.

Madrid is at in an incredible moment. It managed to get out of difficult days and knew how to reinvent itself with charm and a lot of class. It has great restaurants, fantastic museums, trendy rooftops, good wines, immaculate gardens and lots of new things.

The hotel is located in the Centro Canalejas along with the luxury shopping gallery Galeria Canalejas, a few steps from Kilometro Cero, the zero mark from which all distances are measured in Spain. You can explore the whole city on foot. I love it! Parque do Retiro (where the photogenic Palácio de Cristal is located) is a 20-minute walk away. The Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen-Bornemisza museums form a golden triangle around the hotel. So Perfect!

In order to receive guests with sophistication, the lobby opens up imposing and full of light. The architects took care to restore the building while maintaining all the original artifacts that were possible. Its so beautiful. The Four Seasons Madrid has 200 brand new accommodations with impeccable decor. The spa will be the largest in the city, with four floors, eight treatment rooms, beauty salon, gym and indoor pool with natural light. We deserve it, right?

The cuisine of Brasserie Dani will be led by celebrity chef Dani Garcia (who has 3 Michelin stars!!!), with Andalusian cuisine and panoramic views of the city. There will also be a gastrobar with traditional Spanish tapas with an Asian touch.

I already want to return to the Spanish capital. A charming city that will soon have even more glamor with the Four Seasons Hotel Madrid.

Hello, my people! Did you start the new decade on the right foot? I hope 2020 will come to brighten everyone’s life. So let’s travel? A doubt that is always up in the air is how to pack a damn suitcase. And for a Muslim country, like Egypt, where I was last month (and loved it!!), the uncertainties increase even more. Do you have to cover your hair? Dresses or pants? Overlaying clothes? But what about the heat? How do you do it?

Entering a country of a different culture from ours requires a lot of respect. You have to fit the context. The predominant religion of Egypt is Islam, but they are not radical with tourists. Several times a day you will hear the call of the muezzin echoing from the speakers of the mosques announcing the time of prayer. Men and women circulate in robes that cover the whole body. Women wear scarves covering their hair, especially in smaller towns.

Westerners who visit Egypt do not need to cover their hair. But to show respect for local traditions it is worth wearing long skirts, loose dresses, pantaloons and clothes that do not mark the body. Tunic or overlaid shirt is always a good option. Avoid necklines.

My little secret… Pashminas and scarves are great coadjuvants. They help in any situation, whether it’s a cold one, to pump up your look or even to throw over the hair and cover the shoulders in any eventuality. Even so, our outfits attract attention. There’s always someone looking and risking asking for a photo.

Hello, people! The end of the year is right around the corner … and the holidays are knocking on the door. The perfect time to travel and discover new places around the world. Have you ever thought about exploring the Atacama Desert in Chile? The diversity of scenarios you see there is such a great magic, that there is no one who does not leave in awe. It is a journey to reverence Mother Nature’s strength and exuberance.

You’ll need at least five full days (if you have more time!) to explore the lagoons, geysers, volcanoes, dunes, hot springs, giant cacti, salt ridges, caves, salt pans and canyons, populated by flamingos, llamas, vicuñas and various species of animals. Despite being an arid region, its geography is very particular and has no monotony. An explosion of colors and landscapes. And when night falls you will have the most starry sky on the face of the earth. A real show with the constellations seeming to be within reach and the stars streaking through the darkness without ceremony.

The Atacama Desert is located in northern Chile and occupies an area of almost a thousand kilometers between the Andes and the Pacific Ocean. It is considered the highest and driest desert in the world. That’s why you’ll have many temperature variations throughout the day, ranging from 0 to 35 degrees Celsius with ease.

To get to Atacama you need to take two flights (one to Santiago de Chile and the other to Calama) and a 1h15 hour drive to the hotel. Alto Atacama is a hotel that has everything to please. The architecture is fully integrated with nature. It was built next to the ruins of Pukara Quitor, in adobe, to get in tune with the red stones that surround it. It has only 42 charming accommodations, 6 swimming pools, spa and great service. Alto Atacama is only 3 kilometers from the village of São Pedro de Atacama (you can ride the bicycles the hotel offers guests or by van) and offers more than 35 tours.

You can’t leave out of these tours: El Tatio Geyser, Puritama Thermal Springs, Salt Mountains, Moon Valley, Death Valley, Tara Salt Flats, Atacama Salt Flats and Altiplano Lagoons. And if you are feeling extra adventurous, you can climb one of the many volcanoes in the region and stretch to the Uyuni Saltpan in Bolivia.

Write down all these tips with love because the Atacama Desert is a must-see. On your way back, take a break in Santiago de Chile at the friendly Magnolia hotel, which occupies an old, recently restored mansion.

There are places where the seasons define very different scenarios throughout the year. Near Beijing, miles and miles of walls wind through mountains, plains, and deserts. The Wall of China is said to be over seven thousand kilometers long. I am not quite sure. But that it is breathtaking, I must agree.  And when the leaves of the trees start turning into orange tones … then the show is even more beautiful!

I’ve been to the Great Wall of China four times. In the summer, the blue sky is the biggest star, but the heat prevails and the tiredness when climbing the slopes is damned. In the spring the weather is perfect and the surrounding fields turn bright green. But in the fall … What impressive colors! I dare say that from late October to early November is the most beautiful time to visit this sensational work that the Chinese started building, know when? Between the 5th and 3rd centuries BC. The aim was to protect the nomadic tribes in northern China on the border with Mongolia. Later, during the Qin and Ming Dynasties they were increased, which did not solve much, as this last dynasty ended exactly when the Manchus invaded and crossed the wall. Well, what matters is that the walls keep telling their story for centuries, incredible as it may seem.

The Chinese capital Beijing is the starting point for those who want to visit the Wall. There are several access points to enter: Badaling, Simatai, Juyongguan and Mutianyu which I visited this time. It is one of the most fun because it has cable car up and down a toboggan ride. The driving distance from Beijing is just over an hour. Super chill.

The Great Wall of China is one of those places in the world that if you have not yet visited, you need to. It was elected as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, and is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is worth facing each steep step without fear.

Traveling and eating well are both sides of the same coin, right? It’s so good to sit down when you aren’t in a hurry to try new flavors when we are discovering corners of the world. But, besides that, gastronomy has the power to reveal many cultural traits. When I plan a trip, I love to visit markets, fairs and going from star restaurants to popular ones. Below I leave my favorites in Barcelona for you to jot down.

My number one, the one I always come back to and book in advance is Paco Meralgo. It is a tapas tavern with a relaxed atmosphere and divine flavors. Try sitting at the counter to see movement of the kitchen and so choose more easily. Everything is so good! But the bread with tomatoes is the best in town and the cavaquinhas are unforgettable.

Bar Mut is another favorite. It is a very small restaurant and is always full of people. The menu is written on a chalkboard with some fixed and others that change daily. What you can’t help but ask for is the traditional and super exotic egg carpaccio, the scallops and the french toast dessert they call “torrija”. It’s so so good!

To eat a beautiful paella with the best view of Barcelona, it is worth climbing the Montjuic and go to Martinez. Go for lunch or when it is still light out to enjoy the mood of the place. Be sure to make a reservation because it is super crowded. Considered the best place in town to enjoy a traditional paella.

Want to discover an elegant, tourist-free, local place with great cuisine? Go to Café Jaime Beriestain. He is a super trendy architect and has decorated his own home with lots of charm. It’s worth a brunch, lunch, dinner or even just a cup of coffee. A super cool place.

To finalize, I will recommend a rooftop bar that has a sensational view of Barcelona from Casa Batló to the Sagrada Familia. Enjoy sunset at La Dolce Vitae on the top floor of the classic Majestic hotel. Take your time. Get into the Spanish vibe to eat. Slow down!

Fashion is made of great classics – be it colors, structures, key pieces or materials. Regardless of the trend or season, it is always valid to have timeless items in the wardrobe. In the case of polka dots, there is no doubt that it is considered one of the most feminine and elegant patterns of all time. Back in the 50’s, it was once voted a favorite among Hollywood stars such as Marilyn Monroe and Rita Hayworth for looks that marked vintage aesthetics. Unlike this time, the print is gaining space in both urban scenes and looks that call for more sophistication. Here, Camila and I have invested in proposals that match completely different occasions and show the versatility of pattern. While she opted for a one shoulder blouse combo with smaller dots + denim shorts, I chose a version with the full size prints on the dress. Notice how in the two productions there is an added information: on the one hand, the puffy sleeve. On the other, transparency. It’s always worth innovating on effects, styles and textures when we talk about patterns.

In ready to wear collections, there are options that give an even more elegant and cool tone to the polka dot. At Carolina Herrera, a variation in the ratio between the dots of the body of the dress and the sleeves create a modern, super feminine contrast. As a matter of fact, the founder of the brand, Mrs. Herrera, transformed the polka dots into one of her unmistakable DNA elements, in addition to being responsible for presenting them on her runways for past seasons – and even became an exhibition theme in São Paulo. As for Elie Tahari Summer 2020, asymmetry was the characteristic chosen to give bossa to the black and white look.

Another label that doesn’t exempt the mix of neutral shades is Michael Kors. On its latest runway, cropped top and high-waisted pants emerged in a chic, laid-back 2-piece sets . For Tommy Hilfiger, the game of transparency and the gray background of the skirt gave a touch of boldness and power to the black dots.

With a certain navy mood, Adam Lippes and Tory Burch bet on the navy blue background for their white polka dots. On one side, a model with a slumped waist that plays with ruffles in the skirt and ruching on the blouse. On the other, a dress with a princess neckline, discreet ballooning effect and draped throughout the piece.

I am delighted to see such an iconic aesthetic renewed every season. Even if the pattern is the same, I love to see each stylist’s interpretation and the context of the creation. And there are a thousand ideas to embed the trend into your style.

Special dates call for equally special places. For it was in the hidden and idyllic Amanyara Villas resort, in the most exclusive part of Providenciales Island, in the Turks and Caicos archipelago that our muse Camila and her beloved Icaro went to celebrate nine years of marriage. There is nothing better than choosing a place surrounded by blue, where Caribbean nature hosts one of the most exclusive beach resorts in the world.

Amanyara is one of those places you don’t feel like leaving. And you don’t even have to. Resting, relaxing, dating and enjoying nature are the highlights. Camila and Icaro come from a year of many achievements, hard work, relocation to the West Coast of the United States, travel, international shows and most importantly, the launch of her own collection with retail giant Revolve. Of course they deserve to celebrate and slow down in style.

Still on the plane, the views of the bluest blues out the window are jaw dropping.  Upon disembarking, a driver from the hotel itself takes care of driving guests to this particular paradise. Before going to your village, a nice welcome cocktail confirms that you are in a world of peace surrounded by pampering everywhere.

The hotel’s design – which is very elegant, relaxed and contemporary – is signed by the trendy architect Jean Michel Gathy, who turned the Aman standard into an icon of desire. The resort spreads from the incredible cone-shaped bar, facing the black volcanic rock pool that contrasts with the fluorescent blue sea. On one side is the quiet white sandy Malcoln beach. On the other, there are rocky cliffs that form natural pools in front of irreversible, glass villages and fully integrated with nature. The interior has light-colored wood, a canopy bed and a huge integrated bathroom. In the rooms there are always almonds, pistachios, dried fruits, coffee, tea and beer at will for when the hunger strikes, because the area occupied by the hotel is immense. But don’t worry as each villa has its bicycles at the door in addition to the electric cart which can be requested at any time.

The resort’s cuisine is delicious from breakfast to dinner. In fact, if you want a private dinner specially prepared for you at an outdoor table on the cliff, just ask. And don’t miss out on a good spa treatment that’s divine.

Amanyara is a dream come true on one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean. Stay at least 4 days to relax and enjoy all the luxury that the resort can offer like no other.
